About Dr. Charlene Kush, ND

"I will strive to give you the “Plus” in Fertility Plus."

Dr. Kush is a licensed and registered Naturopathic Doctor currently in practice at Niagara’s Elite Wellness in Niagara Falls, Ontario. She has a special interest in the fields of female and male pre-conception health, fertility enhancement and IUI/IVF support, as well as pregnancy care and postpartum mother and baby health.

To be able to help guide and educate those struggling to conceive is truly fulfilling as a Naturopathic Doctor. Dr. Kush feels privileged to be a part of a couple’s journey no matter when they reach out to naturopathic medicine. They may be just thinking about starting a family or in the middle of an ART process, but regardless of when they begin their naturopathic journey Dr. Kush will adjust and develop a treatment plan to suit each individual’s needs and concerns.

Dr. Kush is passionate about the effectiveness of natural medicine. She uses a combination of Traditional Chinese Medicine (acupuncture and herbs), nutritional medicine, homeopathy and homeopathic drainage, and stress management. The Preconception Care is key to optimal fertility and she is committed to working with women and couples to help them achieve and maintain a high level of health and wellbeing prior to conceiving.

Dr. Kush is experienced and supportive of couples with recurrent miscarriage and the generalized diagnosis of “unexplained infertility”. Each person is essentially a puzzle that is unique and must be given the attention and care necessary to put the pieces together. The goal is not only to achieve conception but to maintain a healthy, full term pregnancy as a result of all the wonderful body and mind preparation done in advance.

Dr. Kush also loves treating babies and children, and has great success using nutritional medicine, herbs and homeopathic remedies to stimulate healing rather than suppress. Dr. Kush is devoted to meeting the needs of her patients, and frequently attends seminars and conferences to continue her professional education. She has successfully taken course with Randine Lewis of The Fertile Soul and Jane Lyttleton’s intensive fertility courses.

What To Expect

  • First visit: Your initial visit is approximately one hour and allows us to understand where you are now in your fertility journey and what has lead up to this point. This includes your medical history, lab and test results, medications, supplements, dietary intake, menstrual cycle patterns, stress levels and current stage of reproductive health or treatments. Initial treatment recommendations will begin on the first visit.
  • Second visit: Your second visit involves a more detailed treatment plan and an acupuncture session if desired. A diet diary is analyzed and overall treatment is assessed if currently appropriate and manageable
  • Subsequent visits: Acupuncture sessions often continue once weekly (occasionally twice in the week prior to ovulation) depending on the individual and provides the chance to discuss any questions or concerns at the beginning of the sessions. This ongoing support and counseling is helpful to most women and men during such an emotional time. Most women and men also find acupuncture treatments to be very relaxing and therapeutic both physically and mentally.

As an ND and a mom of 3 busy boys, Dr. Kush aspires to serve the Niagara Region with quality natural health care options from preconception and beyond. She balances her work and family life with yoga, volleyball, travel, and her beloved border collie. Dr. Kush is a member of the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors, the OAND and the Association of Perinatal Naturopathic Doctors. She is also a certified Bowen Therapist.
